How did the label come about and what's the story so far?
So after spending a year on interskramz / driftwood records I decided it was best to run a manage a label myself. Dandy (driftwood records) had moved away to Oregon and it made sense to start fresh. I also had enough contacts to start it up. I asked my friends Tanner and Gina to help me run the label and we have been active since xmas day of last year. Since then we are approaching 20 releases so far with the majority being vinyl.
What are your plans for the label in 2013?
We have many projects in store for 2013. Some happen to be more secret than others and they happen to be incredible. At the moment we have about 7 releases being made all at once. Our goals is to have all these releases with us before the summer is out and then open up our new online store with everything available and ready to ship. Some of the releases include Subordinate, Crows An Wra, Native Wildlife, SLOTHS, and so many other wonderful bands we have featured on our bandcamp. We also have a few more 7 inches in the works and a possible vinyl release for one of our previous releases but im pretty sure i can’t say more than that haha.
What's important in the bands that you work with? How do you choose bands to work with?
Whenever we are approached by a new project the 4 of us (Myself, tanner, gina, plus our newest intern Brenna) will discuss whether we want to fund and support the release. Personally we do not try to push a paticular sound because music isn't about just that one singular aggressive sound that is pushed out daily by other record labels. One aspect of the label is we try to enforce is to be as diverse as possible and to tackle all genres and types of music. All that matters is that the music has passion and that is pretty much how we decide releases.
The bands we work with are nothing short of honest hard working musicians and thats all we can really ask for. We would want nothing less.

What's your overall aim for the label?
Well the overall goal right now is in the next year or two myself and tanner will move into together so we can work together without having to commute an hour in and out of Boston. In the meantime we will continue to put out quality releases. 2014 is looking pretty sharp at the moment so we really couldn't be more excited.

McCafferty Split Up

Sadly, Ohio folk/pop/punkers McCafferty have decided to split up. Read their statement below. Dear Everyone, I'm sorry. It is with great sadness and excitement that I inform you all that McCafferty is coming to an end. I am going to be starting to teach soon, and I am required to get a background check, and I don't believe tha t McCafferty is a professional, respectful representation of myself as a newly trained teacher entering the field of Special Education. Music will always have a place in my heart, but my true passion is teaching. I am leaving the scene of DIY antics to follow my pursuit into adulthood, and I am so happy to have shared my bands music with you all. We truly are the essence of a real DIY band. We came into the scene as a dying star that was doomed to go out in the near future, and that time is now. I have already deleted our twitter/other social media websites but I feel that you all deserve an explanation of what is happening. To all the kids who listen...

Interview: Moose Blood (May 5, 2013)

Hi there, Moose Blood! Suppy. Who is Moose Blood and how did you get together? The band is Eddy & Mark on guitar and vocals, Kyle on bass and myself (Glenn) on drums. Kyle has actually just joined the band but the rest of us got together last Summer after Eddy had sent us home demos of a few songs that he wanted to make a band out of. We wrote a few more songs over the Summer, played our first show in October and recorded the Moving Home EP about a week after that. What are you up to at the moment? We’re constantly writing and just playing as many shows as possible really. We’ve just released a double A-side single ‘Boston//Orlando’ and we’re working on our next release at the moment which will be coming out later this year. Really stoked with how everything’s going. How was the process behind Moving Home? Moving Home was pretty much all written by Eddy before the band started, everybody added their own ideas and parts to it when we got together to pra...
