Srcvinyl To Reissue Two Far LPs On Vinyl

Formed in 1991, Sacramento , California 's far blazed a trail for a generation of alternative rock bands over their 8 year career, garnering critical acclaim at home and abroad by combining heartfelt, dynamic, vocals to unfettered, driving rock songs. The brainchild of Jonah Matranga (OneLineDrawing, New End Original) and Shaun Lopez (Rival Schools, Crosses), far brought a maturity and sensitivity heretofore unheard among their contemporaries and paved a path for bands like Biffy Clyro, Coheed & Cambria and Thursday, by adding a refreshing emotional muscle to unfettered, driving rock songs.

Immediately met with critical acclaim, 1996’s cult classic debut, Tin Cans With Strings to You (Immortal/Epic), introduced far to a national audience via an aggressive marketing campaign and touring schedule with the likes of Incubus and Deftones, which brought their unique band of emotional rock to arenas across the nation. In the years that have past, the long out of print classic Tin Cans With Strings to You has grown to mythological status and is a touchstone moment for alternative rock in the 1990's and beyond.

The band’s follow up, 1998’s Water & Solutions (Immortal/Epic), brought far to an even bigger audience thanks to the infectious hit single "Mother Mary." More accessible than its predecessor, Water & Solutions stands as a pinnacle achievement in alternative rock spawning countless followers from Coheed & Cambria and Thursday to Biffy Clyro and Funeral for Friend.

Both albums are available on vinyl for the very first time through srcvinyl. Mastered for vinyl from the original tapes, Tin Cans With Strings to You  and Water & Solutions stand as landmark masterworks untouched by time that reward listeners with every spin, making full use of the dynamic range that only high quality vinyl can provide. These special LP reissues are sure to be a hit with fans and collectors alike.

McCafferty Split Up

Sadly, Ohio folk/pop/punkers McCafferty have decided to split up. Read their statement below. Dear Everyone, I'm sorry. It is with great sadness and excitement that I inform you all that McCafferty is coming to an end. I am going to be starting to teach soon, and I am required to get a background check, and I don't believe tha t McCafferty is a professional, respectful representation of myself as a newly trained teacher entering the field of Special Education. Music will always have a place in my heart, but my true passion is teaching. I am leaving the scene of DIY antics to follow my pursuit into adulthood, and I am so happy to have shared my bands music with you all. We truly are the essence of a real DIY band. We came into the scene as a dying star that was doomed to go out in the near future, and that time is now. I have already deleted our twitter/other social media websites but I feel that you all deserve an explanation of what is happening. To all the kids who listen...

Early In The Morning by James Vincent McMorrow (2010) (Review)

I've  decided to create a new genre. I call it “beardcore”. Scene heads generally make confessional folk music recorded alone in some isolated building (cabin, hut, beach house etc.) with only acoustic guitars, banjos and whatnot for company. Oh, and they have beards. Now you may think to yourself, ‘This will never take off! How silly of her!’ and, given most of my genre creating, you’d be right (Oberstcore never did take off…), but this scene is not just existing, but is currently thriving. The newest beardcore artist is James Vincent McMorrow’. Joining Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes in the genre, McMorrow hails from the not so green isle of Ireland and is making waves with his debut album Early In The Morning , eleven tracks of atmospheric indie-folk with intelligent musicianship, and more intelligent lyrics. The album starts off with “If I Had A Boat” an initially a capella, atmospheric grower. Starting off quietly, it eases the listener into the record with McMorrow...
