Better Weather are an English four piece that deal in noodly emo that brings to mind the likes of The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die and the vast majority of bands that are covered on this here site. Better Weather EP is the band’s debut release and holds much promise, sadness and... trumpets.

Better Weather stick out from their contemporaries initially on the grounds that their vocals are decidedly British. In the place of typical American vocals we’re all so used to, it’s difficult to not be taken aback by this bloke with an English accent. It gives the band a decidedly punkier feel than most of their peers and is quite refreshing. The songs for themselves, whilst not necessarily spectacular, are enjoyable. “Blank Paper (Blaper)” has a rushed post-hardcore edge; its frenetic, loose instrumentation hits the listener with a bang and drags you into the album whether you want it to or not. However, they’re not entirely there for the rush. The winding guitars and slow trumpeteering of “Pizza But No Party” show a calmer side to their sound and gives them added dynamic. Closer “That’s A Paddlin’” has a wonderfully jazzy emo air, and is probably the strongest track off the release. Where most of the rest of the EP lacked straight catchiness or directed melody; the closer establishes a distinct sound for the band, and is a promise of great things to come. 

Overall, “Better Weather EP” is a solid introduction to a band who, although far removed from the scene they’re aiming for, are soon to be rubbing shoulders with the current top league of our genre. Great start.
