Those of you who have played your purple vinyl of 'Best of Friends' / 'Last of the Summer Wine' flat out and are crying out for more Palma Violets tunes will be excited to hear that the south London four-piece will be releasing their debut album on 25th February 2013. The album is available to pre-order now from the Rough Trade Store where the first 400 copies of the CD and 100 copies of the vinyl will be autographed. 

Palma Violets performed three songs alongside The Weeknd and Lana del Ray. Re-watch their raucous performance of 'Best of Friends' below and tune into BBC2 this Friday 30th November for the full show, which includes two more tracks from the Lambeth lads. View it here. 

Palma Violets will be joining Django Django, Miles Kane and Peace on the UK NME Awards Tour 2013 next February. The band are selling tickets for the tour from their website, where if you like you can also pre-order the album.

  I've  decided to create a new genre. I call it “beardcore”. Scene heads generally make confessional folk music recorded alone in some isolated building (cabin, hut, beach house etc.) with only acoustic guitars, banjos and whatnot for company. Oh, and they have beards. Now you may think to yourself, ‘This will never take off! How silly of her!’ and, given most of my genre creating, you’d be right (Oberstcore never did take off…), but this scene is not just existing, but is currently thriving. The newest beardcore artist is James Vincent McMorrow’. Joining Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes in the genre, McMorrow hails from the not so green isle of Ireland and is making waves with his debut album Early In The Morning , eleven tracks of atmospheric indie-folk with intelligent musicianship, and more intelligent lyrics. Guitarist Jake Langley has parted ways with Handguns. The departure was mutual and amicable.
