Animal Style Records: Free Compilation and Fest Times

Animal Style Records is giving away a free 10-track digital sampler, which includes songs from all 10 of their bands that are playing this year’s Fest in Gainesville , FL.

Label owner Matt Medina says, "Last year I went to The Fest for the first time after missing it for too many years. I am excited to return to Gainesville again this year joining 10 bands I've had the pleasure of working with over the years. To both celebrate the event and introduce folks to some new tunes I decided to put together a free digital compilation of these 10 bands making the trek to this years Fest. There are some newer faces and some familiar ones that have become my extended family. Each track I picked, selecting my favorite from each release and hopefully displaying the diversity that's found on the label. I hope you enjoy and get acquainted with some tunes you haven't heard before. McCafferty Split Up

Sadly, Ohio folk/pop/punkers McCafferty have decided to split up. Read their statement below. Dear Everyone, I'm sorry. It is with great sadness and excitement that I inform you all that McCafferty is coming to an end. I am going to be starting to teach soon, and I am required to get a background check, and I don't believe tha t McCafferty is a professional, respectful representation of myself as a newly trained teacher entering the field of Special Education. Music will always have a place in my heart, but my true passion is teaching. I am leaving the scene of DIY antics to follow my pursuit into adulthood, and I am so happy to have shared my bands music with you all. We truly are the essence of a real DIY band. We came into the scene as a dying star that was doomed to go out in the near future, and that time is now.
